Each Tuesday I will deliver to you two things that are relevant to wellness.
Self-care is not self-indulgent or a treat, it is as necessary as breathing! What can you do to take care of yourself?
- Recently a Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012) told me that the word “trigger” needed to be replaced in my presentation. He said that it meant something different to his generation than mine. I haven’t figured out an appropriate replacement yet, and neither has Mel Robbins or Dr. Becky Kennedy who Mel interviewed in a recent podcast. I am still processing the information and plan to read Dr. Kennedy’s book “Good Inside” soon. Take a listen to the podcast and let me know what you think.
- Just breathe! Easier said than done some days. Alternate nostril breathing is a yogic breath control practice. In Sanskrit, it’s known as nadi shodhana pranayama. This translates as “subtle energy clearing breathing technique.” It is #5 on this list of 10 Breathing Techniques for Stress Relief. The alternate nostril breathing was in a yoga video I was gifted. It took me a few tries to feel comfortable with it, but I do find it a great start to my morning, as it is to be done on an empty stomach. Give it a try.
