1. Celebrate World Mental Health Day – Today marks the day that we celebrate mental health on an international scale. Take the day to tell your own story, connect with others that you know are struggling, get involved, and influence your employer. These are all suggestions is this Forbes article.
I believe one of the most important things each of us can do is to create safe places in our homes and workplaces where people can share their experiences and feelings without judgement. Influencing our employers to host webinars and open discussions about mental wellness, taking a leadership role to be open and transparent will go a long way to making the necessary changes. What is your organization doing to allow for mental wellness leadership? I would love to hear your stories. Email me to share.
2. Open Doors – One of my theories in life has always been, when a door opens, I will walk through it and figure it out when I get there. I must admit that is harder right now. I am not sure if it is that I am older than the last time I did it, or exactly why. Today I am walking through one of those doors. Some ideas for you to consider in order to be open to new opportunities.
Cultivate a Growth Mindset: Embrace challenges and view failures as opportunities to learn and improve.
Be Curious: Stay curious and ask questions. Be interested in learning about new things and exploring different perspectives. I am doing a lot of research which I truly enjoy.
Network and Build Connections: Connect with people from diverse backgrounds and industries.Attend networking events, join professional organizations, and engage in online communities to expand your network. I started up our Working Women Warrior for 3 Hills and area again and we had a great time this past Wednesday.
Set Broad Goals: Right now, instead of setting highly specific goals, I am setting broader goals that allow for flexibility.I am focusing on the skills and qualities that I want to develop rather than being rigid.
Stay Positive and Optimistic: I am working to maintain a positive outlook and look for opportunities even in challenging situations.
I will keep you posted on what comes of my open door adventure!
