The Tuesday Two © – December 20 2022

Each Tuesday I will deliver to you two things that are relevant to wellness.

Self-care is not self-indulgent or a treat, it is as necessary as breathing!  What can you do to take care of yourself?

  1. JOY – We can receive joy by changing our thinking and habits. One of the best ways to combat feelings of hopelessness, anger, frustration, and envy — all states of being that are opposed to joy — is to choose to be grateful.  List three things every day in your journal or day timer. For example, how about being thankful for that hot cup of coffee, dinner with a friend or family member during the week, or how about a relatively smooth commute that doesn’t involve any major traffic jam.  You can even list more important things in our lives that are easy to take for granted, such as having legs that allow us to walk and exercise, and indoor heating during the winter.
  2. SERVING others in a soup kitchen or serving Christmas dinner in a homeless shelter will all boost your joy.  Random Acts of Kindness fit the bill here as well (Feb 17, 2023 see their website). Giving to others not only during the holiday season but throughout the year. Offer small acts of service that can bring joy to both others and us. The key is to be intentional about doing these things — so plan it out. Set a reminder on your phone. Add an event to your calendar. Find ways to remember to serve, so that over time doing these things becomes habitual.
  3. BONUS #3 because it is the season of giving. We all celebrate Christmas in different ways but for me Jesus is the reason to celebrate Christmas and it makes this season more joyous and enjoyable. What matters is that a Savior was born to save his people from their sins. Christmas is a celebration where love is manifested. Gifts are given, treats are baked and delivered, visits are made, trips are taken, all to show how full of love we feel for our friends and family but also for strangers who will benefit from our gifts of time, talent and treasure.

I am offering a gift as well. Save your Women in Leadership spot (Nov 3 – 5, 2023) for just $200.  The remainder of the fees will be due some time before September 30, 2023 ($375). From everyone who has saved their spot by January 8th one person will not pay anymore fees saving $375.
