  1. Relationships – “The world is full of nice people, if you can’t find one, be one!” Rumi    It can be a challenge when you are struggling to feel good about yourself, to seek out those who are filled with joy.  For some reason, we tend to gravitate to those who are in the same kind of mood we are in.  The misery loves company idea.  However, when you aren’t feeling joy inside, that is when you need to seek out the person who brings out the best in you.  When you can tap into their joy, it will increase your vibration and joy as well.  When you are tapped into your joy, you will attract more joy to your life.  When you can cultivate your glimmers into joy and awe, it will allow you to be the best version of yourself in any relationship. I am lucky to have several friendships that have lasted over a decade and some over 4 decades.  I know that they would be there for me when needed. Sometimes in life, we must start over because we move to a new community.  I have had the opportunity to witness this over the last year in a few individuals.  It can feel like work initially, but it is worth it.  We all need connection, someone to laugh with, and occasionally cry with.  Here is an interesting article on how to make new friends from Psychology Today.
  2. Travel – Our long-awaited trip to Mexico with kids/grandkids is in progress as you read this.  Staying well when you travel is important because we don’t want to miss out on enjoying our vacation. Here are a few tips for staying well when you travel.
  • I carry a large soft scarf my daughter Mikaela gave me (The Gap) It doubles as a blanket or neck role on the plane and can be used as a cover in the evenings.
  • Pack less than you think you need if you are going to a beach/pool resort.  I am now down to two bathing suits, two pairs of shorts and tops.  What I splurge on is evening wear because I like getting dressed up and going for dinner.  I take a skirt with 3 different tops, and three sundresses, one of which I wear on the plane with a blazer and the above-mentioned scarf.  That way when I land, I am dressed for the weather.
  • Bring an empty re-fillable water bottle.  Most airports now have water bottle filling stations.  It is important to drink lots of water when you are travelling.
  • Bring a metal cup empty and reuseable straw, these are best in your checked bag, if possible, as in carry on it usually is best to take it out.  Use this for your drinks, it keeps them cold.
  • Pack snacks, (easier if you are not flying through the US) homemade mix of your favs, for me that is golden raisins, dried cherries, mini chocolate chips, and dry almonds.  I also often carry roasted almonds because I like my salty snacks.  You can bring food with you on a flight to Mexico it just can’t leave the plane with you, so eat it up.
  • Move your body.  I usually take a few extra minutes when I use the washroom.  I do toe raises, rotate my ankles, and my quad, hamstring, calves, and hip flexor stretch routine.
  • Take Epsom salts in ziplock bags for a good soak in the tub.
  • Unpack!  This is a must on any trip over two days.  You will feel more grounded and settled.
  • Savour the air, view, and atmosphere wherever you are. Take moments to catch all the glimmers around you and experience your surroundings in awe.
