Each Tuesday I will deliver to you two things that are relevant to wellness.
Self-care is not self-indulgent or a treat, it is as necessary as breathing! What can you do to take care of yourself?
1. My evening ritual of devices off, hot tub or bath, stretching, and reading now also includes Rest For Recovery from Nuun. I am always craving something sour, and this product has tart-cherry in it which helps with not only my craving, but inflammation. There is also magnesium and potassium. For the benefits of tart cherry, click here. The other supplements I take at night are Magnesium Bisglycinate and Vitamin D to help absorb it. Magnesium Bisglycinate has helped to reduce my nighttime muscle spasms, helps me sleep better and reduced the number of migraines I get. For some information on the benefits see this article.
Remember I am not a doctor so please seek out medical advice before taking any supplement.
2. Your vagus nerve has MAJOR power. It regulates your nervous system and runs all the way from your tailbone, through every major organ, through your vocal cords, all the way up to your brain.
“The vagus nerve represents the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system, which oversees a vast array of crucial bodily functions, including control of mood, immune response, digestion, and heart rate. It establishes one of the connections between the brain and the gastrointestinal tract and sends information about the state of the inner organs to the brain via afferent fibers.” source. Learn how to stimulate your vagus nerve and the health benefits of doing so here.
Have a great week!
